Job Summary:
Measure the strengths and weaknesses of patrons and provide them with fitness assessments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Maintain current Personal training, CPR, and First Aid certifications. 2) Capable of interpreting and explaining fitness assessments (body composition, cardiovascular fitness, muscular & endurance, and flexibility). 3) Use fitness assessment results to discuss goals and develop a training program for client. 4) Demonstrate proper form, progressions and modifications for each client's needs. 5) Adhere to ACSM standards and guidelines to design program. 6) Adhere to the personal trainer's role in regards to not offering nutritional or supplemental advice to clients unless the personal trainer is a certified Dietician or Nutritionist. 7) Contact new clients to set up initial meetings and training sessions. 8) Maintain all individual records including sessions purchased and remaining sessions. 9) Keeps management informed of customer and facility needs. 10) Ensures that safety standards are met, and that department and facility policies are adhered to. 11) Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
1) Must be at lead 18 years of age. 2) Active CPR Certification. 3) Required to have current, nationally recognized Personal Trainer certification from one of the following organizations:  American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)  American Council on Exercise (ACE)  Athletics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA)  National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)  International Sports Science Association (ISSA)  Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)  Any other certification is subject to the Fitness Supervisors' approval.
Additional Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities Needed:
1) Working knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology, and training principles. 2) Ability to be professional and motivate patrons. 3) Ability to cooperate and work well with other staff members. 4) Attendance at work and the ability to get along with public, commission, supervisors, and co-workers are essential elements of this position.
