In this role, you will organize, coordinate and lead a wide variety of indoor and outdoor recreation activities at City parks, playgrounds and recreation centers. Recreation Activity Leaders may be assigned to: Tots, Pre-K, or Teen programs, playground programs, Berkeley Day Camp or specialty camps, or youth sports. See the full job description here: governmentjobs.com/careers/berkeley/classspecs/1423207 A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills and abilities for this classification is: Equivalent to graduation from high school and either: 1) Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience leading a variety of athletic and recreation activities; OR 2) Completion of major college coursework leading to a degree in recreation, physical education, group work or a closely related field may be substituted for the above experience on a year-for-year basis; OR 3) Extensive training and/or experience in a specialized field of endeavor such as dance, ceramics, photography or nature study which has occurred over a period of several years and has resulted in an acceptable level of expertise and the ability to impart knowledge of this field to others.
