Group Exercise Instructor

Our particular slice of heaven is an almost unbelievable combination of 360° mountain views, soaring palm trees and blooming bougainvillea beneath sun-kissed skies. It is considered one of the most breathtaking views in all of the Coachella Valley. The Club at Morningside is seeking a part-time dynamic Group Exercise Instructor who is dedicated to service excellence and desires to work in a positive, upbeat environment at a beautiful private club. This position will work out of our Fitness & Spa Center, which includes a state-of-the-art Technogym Fitness Center with the latest strength and cardio equipment, an active schedule of fitness classes, and a full-service spa. Job Summary The Group Exercise Instructor is responsible for leading engaging, results-oriented fitness classes for our members. This role helps create a positive and motivating environment where participants feel supported and inspired to achieve their fitness goals. The Instructor will provide expert guidance, attentively addressing the individual needs of each member during class to ensure their safety and effectiveness, fostering a sense of community and encouraging members to stay committed to their health and wellness journey. Reporting Structure Reports to the Fitness Director Day-to-Day Maintain a service-oriented environment within the group exercise classroom, recognizing members personally and providing the safest, most effective class experience to help them reach their fitness goals Connect with members regularly and promote fitness activities, encouraging interaction in and out of class Provide personalized service for members, including towel and water service during class Promote facility amenities, programs, and the club while maintaining a high level of professionalism and service aligned with club standards Help design class curriculums using current fitness trends and popular formats Regularly update choreography and music playlists Attend continuing education opportunities as available Complete all class administrative work per operating standards Maintain classroom equipment in good working condition and restock supplies as needed Complete daily assignments to uphold club standards, including keeping the classroom and equipment areas organized, stocked, and orderly Serve as a fitness role model, inspiring confidence in the group exercise space Additional Duties Assist others as needed and take on additional tasks as assigned by management Follow all club and department policies, procedures, and instructions Maintain safe working habits and professional conduct at all times Show initiative in personal and professional growth, including maintaining relevant certifications Manage time effectively to balance multiple class and administrative responsibilities Communicate clearly and professionally with members, colleagues, and staff Remain calm and focused under pressure while coordinating multiple tasks Attend briefings and participate in team activities as requested Physical Demands and Work Environment Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and pulling Frequent repetitive motions Squatting, kneeling, reaching, grasping, and twisting Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 lbs. on occasion Position Requirements Required High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of 1 year of experience as a group fitness instructor, with demonstrated ability to develop and lead fitness programs Certified group exercise instructor (AFAA, ISSA, NETA, or ACE) CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (within the last 6 months) Preferred College degree in health, fitness, exercise science, or a related field Strong communication and interpersonal skills to educate and motivate clients Ability to assess individual fitness levels and develop tailored exercise programs Primary Tools/Equipment Stereo equipment Group fitness equipment Fitness equipment
