Job Description
Job Title:
Coach (Personal Trainer)Company:
The Fitness Tech (TFT) About The Fitness Tech The Fitness Tech (TFT) is a small group personal training gym in South San Francisco, open since 2010. We help busy adults 40 and up get in the best shape of their lives, even if they're currently in the worst shape of their lives. Most of our members have tried gyms before and quit, or never felt comfortable walking into one in the first place. Our job is to make sure they never feel that way here. We run on four core values, and we mean them literally, not as posters on a wall:Ownership :
show up on time and handle your responsibilities without being managed.Client Care :
treat every client like they matter, especially the nervous and the fragile.Composure :
stay steady and upbeat no matter how full the room gets.Coachability :
take feedback and get better instead of defending what you already do. Position Overview We're hiring a coach to help run our small group personal training sessions, capped at 10 clients with 2 coaches on the floor. This is a small group coaching role, not a large group bootcamp job. Our members are often training for the first time in years, sometimes ever, and they need a coach who can meet them where they are, correct form patiently, and build their confidence session by session. If your instinct with a nervous 55 year old is to push harder, this isn't the right fit. If your instinct is to slow down and build trust first, it is. Schedule We're looking to fill approximately 25 to 35 hours per week depending on client load and schedule availability. We're covering the following time blocks:Monday:
6:00am to 10:00am and 4:30pm to 6:30pmTuesday:
6:00am to 9:00am and 5:00pm to 8:00pmWednesday:
6:00am to 10:00am and 4:30pm to 6:30pmThursday:
6:00am to 9:00am and 5:00pm to 8:00pmFriday:
6:00am to 10:00amSaturday:
7:00am to 11:00am We're in a transition period as our head trainer recovers from an injury, so hours may shift slightly as we adjust staffing. We're looking for someone stable and flexible who can adapt as we find the right fit. Let us know your availability when you apply. Compensation $25 per hour for your first 60 days while you onboard and learn our systems. After 60 days, pay increases to $30 per hour, with bonus opportunities on top. Bonus opportunities available based on client retention, close rates on consultations, and hitting attendance targets. Key Responsibilities Coach small group personal training sessions and deliver a safe, well run workout every time. Contribute to programming and track client progress on the exercises we monitor over time. Run monthly check ins with new clients during their first 90 days, then quarterly after. Confirm appointments and follow up with members and prospective members. Keep the training floor and equipment clean and organized. Attend staff meetings and stay current on TFT systems and policies. What's In It For You No cold sales. You focus on coaching, we handle the leads. Real mentorship. You'll learn directly from our head coach, owner, and other coaaches and not figure it out alone. A clear growth path as you develop your skills and take on more responsibility. A team that actually supports each other, not just says it does. What We're Looking For A current personal training certification. Genuine patience and skill coaching beginners and adults 40 and up. Most of our members are not in shape when they start, and that's exactly who we serve. Reliability. You show up on time, keep an accurate schedule, and don't leave your teammates covering for you. Composure in a full room. Same energy at 6am with one client as at 6pm with ten. Coachability. You take feedback and adjust instead of defending what you already do. Availability that covers some or all of the schedule above. Interested in Joining Our Team? We know most people won't read this entire job posting, and just click a button to send their resume.
