Job Description
The City of Temple City is hiring for seasonal employment within the Parks and Recreation Department. Seasonal positions will begin in May 2026 and conclude in August 2026. There may be opportunities for extended, year around employment based on program needs. Under direct supervision assists the Senior Recreation Leaders in providing general assistance and support to assigned recreation program and activities; sets up and issues equipment for recreational activities; assists in providing on-site supervision of recreation program and activity participants; and performs a variety of general and routine administrative tasks in support of recreation programs. The recruitment will remain open until filled. Provides general assistance within an assigned recreation program including preschool, sports, special events, after school programs, day camps, arts and crafts, or other recreation programs. Assists in providing on-site supervision to program participants. Assists program participants in recreation activities in assigned areas. Assists in preparing recreational facilities for use including ensuring that appropriate equipment and supplies are available for classes and events. Sets up and takes down equipment; issues and collects recreation equipment and supplies. Assists as directed in an instructional setting including playground supervision, classroom work, and assisting children with a variety of problems and questions. Assists chaperones on field trips and outings. Coaches and umpires organized games and sports activities. Assists in the encouragement of participation and good sportsmanship. Responds to public inquires in a courteous manner. Provides information within the area of assignment. Performs a variety of routine office work including assisting at the front counter and answering phones.
