- Up to $320 per designated instructional week per month About the Opportunity Project LINK, Inc. is seeking an engaging, dependable, and youth-focused
- Yoga & Fitness Instructor
- to provide monthly instruction to middle school students participating in the eMerging Healthy Students program. eHS is a school-based mental wellness, prevention, and resiliency initiative designed to help students develop practical skills for managing stress, emotions, relationships, and everyday challenges. The mindfulness instruction is incorporated into eHS as part of the program's use of
- SAMHSA's Eight Dimensions of Wellness
- , helping students understand the connection between their
- physical, emotional, social, and overall well-being
- . The instructor will introduce Yoga and Fitness activities to students at two participating middle schools on Tuesdays (Young Middle) and Thursdays (Stewart Middle) during one designated week each month from October 2026 through May 2027. Instructional Focus Sessions should provide developmentally age appropriate movement, breathing, and mindfulness activities that help middle school students:
- Recognize the connection between physical activity and emotional wellness.
- Develop healthy strategies for managing stress and strong emotions.
- Practice breathing and relaxation techniques they can use at school and at home.
- Improve body awareness, focus, and self-regulation.
- Strengthen mindfulness and present-moment awareness.
- Build confidence and a positive relationship with physical activity.
- Learn constructive ways to calm themselves when feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, or anxious.
- Understand how movement, rest, emotional health, relationships, and healthy choices contribute to overall wellness. Instruction should be
- interactive, inclusive, culturally responsive, and appropriate for middle school students
- , including students who have never participated in yoga. This is not intended to be an advanced yoga or fitness program. The primary objective is to use movement and mindfulness as practical wellness tools students can incorporate into everyday life. Expected Outcomes Through consistent participation, Project LINK seeks to help students demonstrate:
- Increased understanding of mindfulness and healthy stress-management techniques.
- Greater ability to identify and practice calming strategies.
- Improved emotional self-awareness and self-regulation.
- Increased knowledge of the relationship between physical and emotional wellness.
- Greater student engagement in healthy movement and wellness activities.
- Improved ability to use breathing, stretching, and mindfulness techniques during stressful situations.
- Increased confidence in identifying healthy ways to manage emotions and everyday challenges.
- Stronger understanding of SAMHSA's Eight Dimensions of Wellness and how different areas of wellness are interconnected. Instructor Responsibilities The selected instructor will:
- Plan and facilitate engaging yoga and mindfulness sessions for middle school students.
- Provide age-appropriate stretching, movement, breathing, relaxation, and mindfulness activities.
- Adapt activities for different student abilities and comfort levels.
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental instructional environment.
- Reinforce eHS wellness concepts during activities.
- Collaborate with Project LINK program staff regarding monthly wellness themes and learning objectives.
- Help monitor student participation and safe movement during sessions.
- Maintain professional boundaries and follow all school and Project LINK student-safety requirements.
- Provide brief session feedback or documentation when requested. Preferred Qualifications Project LINK is seeking candidates who possess:
- instructor certification or demonstrated professional yoga or fitness teaching experience.
- Experience teaching mindfulness, movement, fitness, or wellness activities.
- Experience working with children, adolescents, or middle school students.
- Strong communication and group-facilitation skills.
- Ability to engage students with different experience levels and physical abilities.
- Knowledge of breathing, relaxation, stress-management, and mindfulness techniques.
- Professionalism, dependability, patience, and positive classroom presence.
- Cultural competence and experience working with diverse student populations. Experience in
- youth development, social-emotional learning, trauma-informed practices, mental wellness, education, or school-based programming
- is strongly preferred. Schedule & Compensation The instructor will provide services during
- one designated week each month
- , generally consisting of:
- Tuesday — approximately 6-8 sessions over the course of 8 hours
- Thursday — approximately 6-8 sessions over the course of 8 hours
Total:
- Up to 16 hours per designated instructional week once per month
Rate:
- $20 per hour
- Maximum compensation:
- Up to $320 for each completed 16-hour instructional week The program operates from
- October 2026 through May 2027
- and follows the Hillsborough County Public Schools calendar.
No services are ordinarily scheduled during school holidays, winter break, spring break, emergency school closures, or other periods when participating schools are not operating. Actual instructional dates will be coordinated in advance with Project LINK and participating schools. Student Safety Requirements Because services are provided on school campuses and involve minors, the selected instructor must successfully complete all required:
- Background screening.
- School-district clearance.
- Project LINK onboarding requirements.
- Confidentiality requirements.
- Student-safety and professional-boundary requirements.
The instructor must immediately report any student safety concern or serious emotional or behavioral concern through established Project LINK and school procedures.
