We are a grassroots, multi-service nonprofit dedicated to the sexual health and overall well-being of LGBTQ+ youth of color. We offer a safe space for fellowship, HIV/STI testing and education, PrEP navigation, essential services like food and clothing, mental wellness support, and advocacy. Our vision is a world without health disparities, where everyone can access the care and support they deserve. Our free Health & Wellness Program is a core part of that work. Weekly classes in dance, strength training, HIIT, mobility and stretch, and boxing and self-defense are built for beginners while welcoming every level of athleticism and mobility. Alongside classes, participants can join group therapy, nutrition and meal-prep sessions, recovery days, and community events like health fairs. About the role We're hiring a part-time Group Fitness Instructor to lead safe, welcoming, and energizing classes for TaskForce participants. You'll design and teach classes that work for mixed-ability groups, build real relationships with participants, and help us understand what's working through simple attendance and feedback tracking. The right person is as skilled at making people feel they belong as they are at cueing a squat. Cultural competence is central to this role, not a bonus. Responsibilities Plan and lead group fitness classes (e.g., strength, cardio, circuit, low-impact, mobility) on a regular weekly schedule Offer modifications and progressions so every participant can take part, regardless of age, ability, body size, or experience Create a class culture where participants feel respected, seen, and safe to show up as themselves Adapt cueing, music, examples, and communication style to the cultural backgrounds and preferences of the group Check in with new participants, learn names, and follow up with people who stop attending Record attendance and share participant feedback so TaskForce can report outcomes to funders Follow safety protocols, monitor participants for signs of overexertion, and respond appropriately to injuries or emergencies Collaborate with TaskForce staff on program improvements, community events, and outreach What we're looking for Current group fitness or personal training certification from a nationally recognized organization (e.g., ACE, AFAA, NASM, ACSM), or willingness to earn one within [90 days] Current CPR/AED certification At least 2 years of experience leading group classes, ideally with beginners or mixed-ability groups Cultural competence. You understand that culture, language, identity, faith, income, and past experiences shape how people relate to exercise and their bodies. You approach every participant with curiosity and respect, avoid assumptions, and adjust your teaching so people from all backgrounds feel welcome. You're open to feedback and committed to learning about the communities you serve. Clear, encouraging communication and a non-judgmental, body-neutral approach to fitness Reliability and punctuality; you show up prepared and on time Comfort with basic tech for attendance tracking (tablet or phone app) Nice to have Bilingual or multilingual, especially [Spanish or other languages spoken by our participants] Lived experience in, or a strong connection to, the communities TaskForce serves Experience teaching older adults, people with chronic conditions, or people returning to exercise after a long break Background in community health, nonprofit programs, or trauma-informed practice Specialty certifications (e.g., senior fitness, adaptive fitness, yoga, dance-based formats) Schedule, pay, and how to apply Employment type: Part-time [or contract]
