The instructor creates a welcoming and motivating class environment while providing clear instruction, appropriate modifications, and attentive member service. This position requires experience with Pilates and Barre techniques and the ability to incorporate a variety of equipment and training methods based on the format of each scheduled class. Pilates:
Ball & Barre 5:30 p.m.- 6:15 p.m. Lead Pilates mat exercises utilizing equipment such as stability balls, Pilates rings, foam rollers, and other appropriate props. The class is designed to challenge participants who are already familiar with basic Pilates mat exercises while improving strength, stability, balance, and flexibility. Wednesday
- Pilates Barre Fuse Ladder 11:30 a.m.
- 12:30 p.m. Lead a strength and resistance-based workout combining Pilates, Barre, and Fuse Ladder exercises. Incorporate props and body-weight movements to provide a challenging, attainable, and well-balanced workout focused on strength, stability, mobility, and overall conditioning. Friday
- Cardio Barre 11:30 a.m.
- 12:30 p.
m. Lead a dynamic Barre workout incorporating low-impact cardio intervals with traditional Barre movements. Classes should provide full-body conditioning and muscular endurance while remaining accessible to participants of varying fitness levels. The format is low impact while maintaining an appropriately challenging level of intensity.
Essential Responsibilities:
Prepare and lead scheduled Pilates and Barre group fitness classes. Provide clear instruction and demonstrate proper exercise technique, alignment, and form. Offer appropriate modifications and progressions based on participants' abilities and fitness levels. Create an inclusive, professional, and motivating environment for members. Monitor participants throughout class and provide appropriate coaching and corrections. Set up, maintain, clean, and properly store equipment used during classes. Ensure the studio and equipment are maintained in a clean, safe, and organized manner. Begin and end classes on time and maintain consistent attendance for assigned classes. Build positive relationships with members and provide a high level of member service. Follow all Club safety procedures and respond appropriately to injuries, incidents, or emergencies. Communicate equipment, scheduling, member, or operational concerns to Athletics & Wellness leadership. Maintain required certifications and continuing education applicable to assigned class formats. Perform other related duties as assigned. Check members in and properly submit class billing at the end of each class session.
Qualifications:
Previous experience teaching Pilates, Barre, or similar group fitness formats preferred. Knowledge of Pilates mat exercises, Barre techniques, strength and resistance training, and proper use of fitness props and equipment. Ability to safely instruct participants with varying fitness levels and abilities. Strong communication, interpersonal, and member-service skills. Dependable, professional, and comfortable leading groups. Current CPR/AED certification required. Current nationally recognized group fitness, Pilates, Barre, or related certification preferred.
Physical Requirements:
The position requires the ability to demonstrate exercises and movements throughout class, including standing, bending, reaching, balancing, kneeling, and performing floor-based exercises. The instructor must be able to safely handle and move fitness equipment and remain physically active for the duration of each class.
