Position Summary:
As a Cycle Instructor, you will plan and lead engaging cycle classes that align with our mission of supporting holistic well-being. You will help every participant feel welcome and capable, focusing on healthy movement, community, and self-acceptance — not competition or unrealistic standards. You'll help us build positive relationships and create an environment where everyone can listen to their bodies and celebrate their own wellness journey.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead safe, effective, and inclusive cycle classes that support physical, social, and emotional wellness. Provide clear instruction and offer modifications so participants of all ages, abilities, and fitness levels feel supported and successful. Foster a welcoming, non-judgmental environment where everyone is encouraged to focus on bettering health and community, not comparison. Build positive relationships with members, supporting them with encouragement and understanding. Maintain a safe, clean, and inviting fitness space, addressing equipment needs promptly. Stay current with wellness trends, participate in staff meetings, and pursue ongoing training and certifications. Model the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in every interaction.
Qualifications:
Experience teaching group exercise classes preferred. Current national Cycle or national Group Ex. Certification (e.g., ACE, AFAA, YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise, or equivalent) required or obtained within 6 months of hire. Current CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain. Commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment. Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
