Job Description
The City of Lenexa Parks & Recreation Department is looking for a knowledgeable and client-focused Personal Trainer to join our Lenexa Rec Center team. We're seeking someone who is passionate about fitness, committed to helping others reach their goals, and dedicated to creating a welcoming and professional training environment. Position Summary This position is responsible for delivering safe, effective, and individualized fitness instruction to a diverse range of clients. Personal Trainers conduct fitness assessments, design tailored workout plans, and motivate participants to pursue healthier lifestyles in a supportive and professional setting. Schedule This part-time position is scheduled for 5-20 hours per week , with hours varying based on client needs. Candidates should be available after 3 p.m. , including evenings and weekends . The schedule also includes leading small group training on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-7 p.m. Key Responsibilities Provide exercise instruction, motivation, and guidance to Rec Center patrons on the fitness floor. Conduct and evaluate client fitness assessments. Plan, lead, and adapt client-specific training sessions and small group programs. Monitor and adjust training programs as client needs evolve, maintaining accurate records of sessions and progress. Maintain familiarity with and promote safe practices in fitness equipment use, sanitation, and facility protocols. Serve as a first responder in case of emergencies at the facility. Participate in personal training meetings and team staff meetings. Represent the Rec Center in a professional, courteous manner and support department programs as assigned. Assist with presentations, team projects, and support additional related opportunities within scope.
