No Job Summary:
Perform functions that will provide high quality programming and customer service while ensuring health and safety standards in the fitness center.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None Duties/Responsibilities:
Greet each member entering the room and create an atmosphere to ensure that all members feel welcome and comfortable. Enforce the policies and rules of the fitness center Support membership sales activities, give program and membership information. Direct and educate members through individual orientations to the equipment including seat settings, correct form, and proper usage Conduct continuous tours of rooms, checking for safe and proper use of equipment and providing assistance to members whenever it is needed or requested. Assist members in setting personal goals, offering suggestions for new exercise routines as appropriate. Clean equipment and surfaces, and report repairs needed. Answer telephone, book appointments for orientations and conduct follow-up phone calls to members. Maintain neatness and cleanliness of all areas used including the strength room, cardio room, aerobics room and gymnasium. Update CPR First Aid and AED Certification yearly. (Provided by the YWCA) Attend meetings and perform other duties as requested.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Demonstrated skills in providing quality customer service Excellent personal and customer relation skills Ability to relate to people of diverse attitudes and interests Ability to assist members at all fitness levels (i.e beginner to expert) CPR certification must be attained during the first 6 months of employment
Education and Experience:
Experience in Fitness field with basic knowledge of cardiovascular and strength training
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift equipment, up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, sit, reach, grasp, stoop, bend, push, pull, kneel, squat, and twist.
