Part Time (up to 25 hours per week)
Schedule:
Evenings:
Monday-Thursday 3:00-9:00pm, Friday 3:00-8:00pm.
Weekend Shifts Available:
Saturday 6:45am-12:30 pm & 12:30-6:00pm, Sunday 8:45am-12:30pm & 12:30-5pm
Compensation:
$13.73 per hour, Free YMCA Household membership
POSITION SUMMARY
This position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Fitness Specialist provides customer service that promotes member wellness in accordance with YMCA policies and creates a safe, enjoyable, and motivational environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Maintain and actively build relationships with members and guests Supervise the fitness floor and ensure member safety Enforce YMCA policies and procedures to members and prospective members Attend scheduled staff meetings and training Effectively communicate proper training and exercise techniques to ensure the safe and effective use of cardiovascular, flexibility, and strength training equipment Help to maintain a safe, clean, and organized facility Present a professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintain a high standard of customer service Hours vary depending on availability and staffing needs
QUALIFICATIONS
Education in exercise science or related field preferred Red Cross CPR/AED certification preferred or ability to obtain in 30 days Previous experience working in a fitness/health & wellness setting preferred Must be personable, attentive and reliable
