Job Description
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Fitness Floor Trainer at the Red Bank YMCA Branch of The YMCA of The Jersey Shore intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined. Under the direct supervision of the Health & Wellness Director, the Fitness Floor Trainer will promote healthy and safe exercise programs for all clients in a professional manner. Must always be on time and ready for your scheduled shift, which includes but is not limited to adhering to the established branch and department dress code. Must follow established protocols for accurate and timely scheduling and recording of personal training sessions. Demonstrate YMCA core character values of honesty, respect, responsibility and caring in all interactions with employees, members, staff and others; commit to ongoing professional development. Continually and vigilantly monitor the activity of those exercising as well as the general use of the Wellness Center and facility. Monitor and enforce guidelines of the facility. Be knowledgeable of YMCA programs and services in order to proactively engage with members and guests to help connect them to appropriate Y offerings as well as helping to support prospective member tours. Provide introductory fitness assessment/personal training session to members as assigned. Responsible for generating new clients by engaging members and prospective clients, e.g., through introductory sessions. Provide general fitness center orientations to members. Explain, demonstrate and support the learning of basic principles of fitness as well as the proper use of equipment. Maintain the cleanliness of the Wellness Center and facility and equipment, performing all required shift duties as specified by supervisor Visually inspect work area and equipment for safety and risk, report to supervisor in writing any problems. Responsible for filling out accident/incident reports. Additionally, immediately report any unsafe or suspicious activity directly to the Manager on Duty. Embrace and adhere to service excellence standards; provide outstanding service to your customers and constituents. Must be at least age 18 years Current nationally recognized personal training certification (NASM, NSCA, ACE, ISSA, ACSM or WITS certifications) Minimum 0-3 years experience as a personal trainer First Aid, CPR/AED certification The YMCA of The Jersey Shore New Team Member Orientation YMCA Child Abuse Prevention Online Training Notify Wellness Director within 60 days before First Aid, CPR/AED expiration date.
