Job Description
1 x weekly position available (Fridays 9:30 a.m.)- other opportunities may be available Make a difference while having fun! Aging is Cool is seeking an energetic, dependable Aqua Fitness Instructor to lead engaging, low-impact water exercise classes for active older adults in independent living communities, senior apartments, and 55+ communities. Our classes focus on helping participants stay Strong, Smart, and Social through safe, enjoyable movement that builds strength, balance, flexibility, cardiovascular fitness, and confidence. Responsibilities Lead fun, safe, and engaging 45-60 minute aquatic fitness classes. Create a welcoming, encouraging environment for participants of all fitness and mobility levels. Demonstrate exercises and provide modifications to accommodate varying abilities. Monitor participant safety throughout each class. Arrive early to greet participants and prepare equipment. Foster social connection and encourage regular attendance. Communicate professionally with community staff and Aging is Cool scheduling team. Maintain reliable attendance and notify scheduling promptly if an emergency prevents teaching. These classes are important to our participants, and dependable instructors are essential. Qualifications Current Group Fitness or Aqua Fitness certification (AEA, ACE, AFAA, ACSM, NASM, SilverSneakers®, or equivalent preferred). Current CPR/AED certification (required). Experience teaching aquatic fitness classes preferred. Experience working with older adults is a plus. Excellent communication and motivational skills. Friendly, dependable, and enthusiastic personality. Ability to adapt exercises for participants with varying mobility and fitness levels while maintaining a safe class environment.
