The Yoga Instructor provides therapeutic yoga sessions for patients in a mental health inpatient setting. The role supports patients' emotional regulation, stress reduction, and mind-body awareness as part of a multidisciplinary treatment approach. Sessions are adapted to meet a wide range of psychiatric conditions, physical abilities, and acuity levels.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead safe, structured yoga sessions for a group of inpatient psychiatric patients Adapt practices (movement, breathing, meditation) for varying diagnoses. Monitor patient engagement, behavior, and safety during sessions; respond appropriately to distress or escalation

Maintain appropriate boundaries and uphold patient confidentiality (HIPAA compliance)
Required Qualifications:
Certified Yoga Instructor Ability to work with diverse populations, including individuals in acute psychiatric distress Strong interpersonal skills and ability to remain calm, grounded, and responsive Basic understanding of mental health conditions and de-escalation techniques
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in hospitals, behavioral health units, or residential treatment settings Additional certifications (e.g., trauma-informed yoga, mindfulness-based stress reduction, adaptive yoga) Familiarity with safety protocols in locked or secure units
Work Environment:
Inpatient psychiatric unit (may include locked units) Requires flexibility in scheduling Close coordination with clinical and nursing staff Must adhere to safety and security policies (e.g., restricted items, patient supervision)
