Key Responsibilities:
Lead safe, structured yoga sessions for a group of inpatient psychiatric patients Adapt practices (movement, breathing, meditation) for varying diagnoses. Monitor patient engagement, behavior, and safety during sessions; respond appropriately to distress or escalation- collaborate with clinical staff.
Required Qualifications:
Certified Yoga Instructor Ability to work with diverse populations, including individuals in acute psychiatric distress Strong interpersonal skills and ability to remain calm, grounded, and responsive Basic understanding of mental health conditions and de-escalation techniquesPreferred Qualifications:
Experience in hospitals, behavioral health units, or residential treatment settings Additional certifications (e.g., trauma-informed yoga, mindfulness-based stress reduction, adaptive yoga) Familiarity with safety protocols in locked or secure unitsWork Environment:
Inpatient psychiatric unit (may include locked units) Requires flexibility in scheduling Close coordination with clinical and nursing staff Must adhere to safety and security policies (e.g., restricted items, patient supervision)Physical Requirements:
Ability to demonstrate and guide basic movements Ability to modify or provide chair yoga practices Standing, bending, and light lifting (e.g., mats, props) Goals of theRole:
