$19 - $25 an hour The Activity Instructor is to provide recreational activities for young people grades K-5th to learn new sports skills; as well as an avenue for self-development, exploration, and expression. Lead physical fitness activities, promote healthy habits, mindfulness, and overall wellness practices, including but not limited to yoga, meditation, and stretching.
MAJOR DUTIES
Lead physical fitness sports activities such as basketball, soccer, baseball, etc Promote healthy habits, mindfulness, and overall wellness practices, including but not limited to yoga, meditation, healthy cooking, etc. Submit lesson/activity plans in-advance. Conduct activities enriched with literacy and math skills whenever possible. Plan and implement a culminating event or project. Complete daily progress reports and attendance. Manage setup, operation and clean-up of activities and the organization, inventory and storing of relevant supplies and equipment. Attend all staff meetings and staff development trainings sessions, as specified. Guide program participants in examining choices, following directions and becoming involved in program activities. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be at least 18 years old. High School Diploma or GED required. Sports knowledge such as basketball drills, soccer drills, etc. Candidates with some college, experience with adolescents and teaching/coaching youth are encouraged to apply. Flexibility, creativity, and enthusiasm for young people Excellent planning, organization and time management skills Ability to engage youth, while setting structure and limits in a group setting. Energetic, motivated self-starter and a team player Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based, youth and family development and trauma-informed perspective. Experience working youth.
