A Personal Trainer or Fitness Instructor develops customized exercise and fitness programs for clients. Reviews health and fitness goals, teaches correct and safe exercise technique, monitors progress and provides encouragement for clients. Leads fitness and exercise classes at a community center, club or pool. Teaches aerobics, water, strength building or other exercises and maintains equipment.

Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Applicant must be a trained professional and certified in group exercise. Minimum of one (1) year of experience leading fitness courses. Experience with introductory courses and varying health statuses is critical. Able to work with a team, communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Must maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times.Preferred :
Passionate about prevention, preventive health, healthy lifestyles. Experience in instruction of circuit training or water aerobics.Lic/Reg/Cert:
Group exercise certification in related field.TYPICAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS
Ability to perform and demonstrate circuit training, and water aerobics exercises. Able to interact with a variety of participants. Must have good self-reflection skills, receive feedback well, and work well with a team.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Design and teach Introductory Circuit Training classes, OR Introductory Water Aerobics classes. (Instructor will not be required to teach all class types.) Adapt courses to participant skill level and health status. Create and maintain Body Acceptance Fitness schedule. Work closely with Wellness Center staff in scheduling classes and using the Wellness Room. Develop goals with patients and support interventions tied to goals. Demonstrate competence in relation to the defined mission, vision, values, and strategic plan of the organization.MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS
