A Personal Trainer or Fitness Instructor develops customized exercise and fitness programs for clients. Reviews health and fitness goals, teaches correct and safe exercise technique, monitors progress and provides encouragement for clients. Leads fitness and exercise classes at a community center, club or pool. Teaches aerobics, water, strength building or other exercises and maintains equipment.

Job Description

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct fitness assessments and consultations with clients to determine their goals and fitness levels
  • Develop personalized exercise programs based on clients' needs and goals
  • Instruct and demonstrate proper exercise techniques to clients
  • Provide guidance and motivation to clients during training sessions
  • Monitor clients' progress and make adjustments to their programs as needed
  • Educate clients on proper nutrition and lifestyle habits to support their fitness goals
  • Maintain a clean and organized training area
Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of body mechanics, anatomy, and physiology
  • Excellent sales skills to promote personal training services and attract new clients
  • Background in physical education, personal training, or related field
  • Ability to design effective exercise programs for individuals or groups
  • Experience in group fitness instruction is a plus
  • Familiarity with sports coaching principles is beneficial
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients
  • Ability to motivate and inspire clients to achieve their fitness goals
