Interested in instructing in the water? Join our Aqua Fitness team now! Our Lansdowne YMCA is looking for Aqua Fitness Instructors. The ideal candidate will have flexible availability for classes.
POSITION SUMMARY
Instructs group classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement. Works with the Aquatics Director and continually communicate all information pertaining to all necessary programs. This position will be expected to promote the values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility in every activity associated with the YMCA. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes. Training is a condition of employment. Maintaining the highest safety standards in every aspect of program operation. Working closely with the Aquatics Director to ensure good communication and operations of all programs. Adhering to all YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations. Distributing all communication materials in coordination with the Aquatics Director. Attending clinics, workshops and staff meetings as assigned by the Aquatics Director. Maintaining accurate records for all programs. Completes accident/incident reports for any occurrences while on duty. Assisting in all special events relating to the YMCA. Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members. Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA. Maintains a professional attitude and appearance at all times. Any other duties deemed necessary to ensure the success of the Community YMCA of Eastern Delaware County.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum age of 18.
Certifications:
Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR/AED, and First Aid. Nationally recognized Fitness Certification. Completion of required trainings. Specialty certification in areas of expertise. In-Training for 30-60 days. Excellent communication skills. A commitment to continuous quality program improvements. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to conduct classes and activities. Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting. Able to lift and carry 15-50 lbs. Must be able to see, hear, direct, and assist members, guests, and staff to ensure safety.
