Hilton Head Island, SC Job Summary:
The Fitness Instructor at Symbios Health is responsible for delivering high-quality, personalized fitness training through the Symbios FIT program. The role focuses on guiding clients of all fitness levels—from beginners to elite athletes—in functional fitness, strength training, and metabolic conditioning. The coach will work collaboratively with the Symbios team to integrate fitness with holistic wellness, including nutrition and primary care, to improve clients' overall health and mobility.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Design & Delivery:
Develop and implement individualized fitness plans and group classes incorporating functional movements (e.g., barbell exercises, kettlebells, calisthenics, cardio, and high-intensity interval training).
Client Assessment:
Conduct fitness assessments, including initial evaluations and ongoing progress tracking, to tailor programs to clients' goals and abilities.
Coaching & Motivation:
Provide hands-on instruction, correct form, and motivate clients to achieve fitness and health objectives in a safe, inclusive environment.
Group Classes:
Lead dynamic group fitness sessions, ensuring scalability for varying skill levels and fostering a supportive community.
Collaboration:
Work with Symbios medical and nutrition staff to align fitness programs with clients' overall wellness plans.
Education:
Educate clients on proper exercise techniques, mobility, and the importance of functional fitness for long-term health.
Facility Maintenance:
Ensure fitness equipment is maintained and the training area is safe and clean.
Client Onboarding:
Facilitate introductory classes and free fitness tests for new Symbios patients to integrate them into the Symbios FIT program.
Qualifications:
Required:
Nationally recognized certification (NASM, ACE, CrossFit Level 1, or equivalent). Experience in personal training or group fitness coaching. Strong knowledge of functional fitness, strength training, and high-intensity workouts. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to motivate and engage clients. CPR/AED certification.
Preferred:
Specialization in areas like mobility, or metabolic conditioning. Experience working with diverse populations, including beginners and elite athletes. Background in integrating fitness with nutrition or medical wellness programs.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to demonstrate exercises, lift heavy equipment (e.g., barbells, kettlebells), and stand for extended periods. Capability to perform and coach high-intensity functional movements.
Work Environment:
Primarily based at Symbios Health, Hilton Head Island facility. Mix of one-on-one training, group classes, and collaborative work with medical staff. Flexible schedule, potentially including early mornings, evenings, or weekends based on client needs.
