POSITION SUMMARY
As a YMCA Personal Trainer, you'll empower members to reach their goals through customized training programs, motivation, and accountability — all while being part of a supportive community that changes lives every day. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides quality member service. Helps all members and educates YMCA members about exercise principles, nutrition basics and other wellness and fitness-related topics, in alignment with YMCA teachings and best practices. Engages in the members' workouts and provides constructive feedback to maximize wellness and fitness gains. Conducts baseline fitness assessments on members. Uses Listen First skills to assist YMCA members in determining their long and short-term wellness goals. Provides encouragement to members to help them meet their wellness goals and continue with their programs. Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Hold a current Personal Training Certification from a nationally recognized organization with NCAA Accreditation. Must have knowledge of strength/free weight and cardiovascular equipment, general strength training principles, appropriate exercise modifications for special populations and basic nutrition.
YMCA certificates to include:
YMCA Healthy Lifestyle Principles, YMCA Foundations of Strength and Conditioning (recommended) CPR/First Aid/AED/O2.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position operates in a fitness, wellness, and community-based environment and regularly interacts with members, participants, team members, leaders, and other stakeholders. The role requires frequent walking, standing, kneeling, stooping, and other physical movement associated with demonstrating exercises and supporting participants. The position may require prolonged periods of standing or sitting and continuous attention to detail while managing multiple tasks. The employee must be able to lift, pull, and move up to 50-100 pounds depending on client requirements and/or needs. Must be physically able to successfully complete and maintain required certifications. Flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends, may be required based on program and organizational needs. ACCOUNTABILITY
Employment is contingent upon satisfactory performance and successful completion and maintenance of applicable position requirements, which may include background screening, driver's license review, CPS screening, drug and/or alcohol testing, or other screenings as required by the position or applicable law.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Wage Range:
Floor Rate $12.77 - $14.00 hourly
Wage Range:
Sessions Rate $18.00 - $20.00 hourly The wage range provided reflects the YMCA of South Hampton Roads' good-faith determination of the minimum and maximum starting salary for this position.
