Category Pharmacy - Staff Pharmacist Job Type Contract This opportunity invites a dedicated Staff Pharmacist to join a dynamic hospital pharmacy team in Angoon, Alaska, for a rewarding 13-week contract starting in late July. The role focuses on ensuring safe, effective, and cost-conscious drug therapy consistent with federal and state regulations, while providing patient education and collaborating with healthcare staff.
Responsibilities include:
Preparing and dispensing medications accurately and efficiently. Advising medical, nursing, and village personnel on appropriate drug therapies. Maintaining and selecting an optimal drug inventory. Participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care. Upholding professionalism, confidentiality, and service excellence standards.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Pharm.
D. degree with active pharmacy licensure in Alaska (mandatory). Candidates licensed before 2003 with a Bachelor of Pharmacy and three years of hospital or ambulatory pharmacy experience may be considered. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers. Completion of an ASHP-recognized pharmacy residency is preferred. Demonstrated ability to review patient history, labs, and medication orders. Proficiency in relevant computer applications and pharmaceutical calculations. Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Flexibility to manage interruptions and adapt to changing workload demands.
Additional requirements:
Current Alaska pharmacist license is required prior to start. Flu vaccination is mandatory for this position. Start date contingent upon processing of fingerprint cards through SEARHC; timely submission is essential to avoid delays.
