Job Summary CCMC is searching for a Retail Pharmacist interested in joining our small, critical access hospital team in rural Alaska . You will be responsible for the the Retail Pharmacy and 340b program providing services to Cordovans as the only retail pharmacy in the community.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders; detecting therapeutic incompatibilities.
• Administers vaccines per state and federal guidelines and record in Alaska State vaccine recording system (VacTrak).
• Completes data entry and insurance adjudication of prescription orders, dispenses medications by compounding, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
• Monitors drug therapies; advises interventions when appropriate.
• Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing pharmacy technicians' work flow; verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals; verifying order entries; verifying insurance adjudication
• Provides pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals; counseling patients on drug therapies.
• Monitors stock replenishment, inventory levels, policies/procedures, record keeping, security, sanitation, scheduling, proper operation of all equipment, pricing, returns, reports to management, and product recalls
• Develops hospital staff's pharmacological knowledge by participating in clinical programs; training pharmacy staff, students, interns, externs, residents, and health care professionals.
• Complies with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the state board of pharmacy, the drug enforcement administration, and the food and drug administration; maintaining records for controlled substances and all drug inventory; removing outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory; maintaining current registration; studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; advising management on needed actions.

• Optimizes drug saving by utilizing 340B; monitors correct usage of 340b inventory; runs reports to monitor as directed, maintains 340b knowledge and is up to date on 340b news and regulations;
• Fills long term care medications and manages associated recordkeeping

QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION

Must possess, as a minimum, Doctor of Pharmacy degree, Pharm.

D. EXPERIENCE

Minimum, two (2) years experience

Must possess a valid, current license in the state of Alaska. Must be able to read, write and speak the English language. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Must possess leadership and the willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel. Ability to plan, organizes, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures.
