Job Description

Walmart is seeking a Staff Pharmacist to provide safe, accurate, and patient-centered pharmacy services in a high-volume retail environment. You will verify and dispense prescriptions, counsel patients on medications and vaccines, manage immunization services, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Partner with pharmacy technicians, store leadership, and healthcare providers to optimize workflow, maintain inventory, and deliver exceptional customer service. You'll also support Walmart's clinical programs, quality initiatives, and community outreach while mentoring associates and upholding company standards of safety, ethics, and inclusion. Responsibilities Verify, dispense, and check accuracy of prescriptions in compliance with regulations Provide patient counseling on medications, side effects, adherence, and disease states Administer and document immunizations following Walmart and state guidelines Oversee daily pharmacy operations and workflow to meet service and safety standards Maintain controlled substances, inventory levels, and proper storage procedures Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and company pharmacy regulations and policies Collaborate with technicians, store leadership, and prescribers to resolve issues Support quality initiatives, clinical services, and medication therapy programs Use pharmacy software and technology to process, track, and document prescriptions Train and mentor pharmacy technicians and interns on procedures and best practices Required Skills Prescription verification and dispensing Medication therapy management (MTM) Immunization administration Retail pharmacy workflow management Pharmacy law and regulatory compliance Drug utilization review (DUR) Insurance and third-party claims processing Inventory and controlled substance management Patient counseling and customer service Use of pharmacy management software and EMR
