Durango, CO Start Date:

Guaranteed Hours:
40 hours/week
Schedule:
Variable 10-hour day shifts between 6:00 AM-10:00
PM Charting System:
Epic Dispensing System:
Pyxis Call:
1 night per week
Weekends:
Every other weekend / approximately every 4-6 weeks
Experience:

Candidates must live 60+ miles from Durango, CO Position Overview We are seeking an experienced, friendly, flexible, and hardworking Hospital Pharmacist to join the pharmacy team in Durango, Colorado. This position supports all hospital service areas and requires strong hospital pharmacy experience, including sterile compounding. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced hospital environment, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and providing safe, accurate, patient-centered medication management. Areas Supported The Pharmacist may provide coverage and services throughout the hospital, including: Emergency Department (ER) Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Inpatient services Outpatient services Imaging Cath Lab Hospice Other hospital service areas as assigned Key Responsibilities Review patient medication profiles and clinical information Perform medication order review and verification Complete Pyxis medication pulls and dispensing Participate in drug therapy monitoring (DTMs) Participate in multidisciplinary rounding (MDR) Provide medication-related phone triage Apply medication protocols and dosing guidelines Support medication dosing and clinical pharmacy services Perform sterile compounding Ensure accurate and timely medication preparation and dispensing Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals Provide safe and effective medication management across hospital service areas Maintain compliance with hospital pharmacy policies and procedures Required Qualifications Active Pharmacist license appropriate for practice Minimum 2 years of hospital pharmacy experience BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) Strong experience with sterile compounding Experience with hospital pharmacy operations Experience working with Epic Experience with Pyxis Strong medication knowledge and clinical judgment Excellent communication and teamwork skills Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities Must be flexible with variable 10-hour shifts Must be available for weekends and required call Schedule & Call Variable 10-hour shifts Shift times fall between 6:00 AM and 10:00 PM Every-other-weekend rotation / approximately every 4-6th weekend depending on scheduling Holiday coverage as assigned One night of call per week Scheduling requires flexibility based on hospital needs Dress Code & Orientation Hospital-laundered scrubs provided General hospital orientation provided Department-specific pharmacy orientation provided What We're Looking For We're looking for pharmacists who are experienced, dependable, friendly, flexible, and hardworking and who enjoy being part of a collaborative hospital team.
