The Pharmacy Specialist Oncology will support Pharmacy and Oncology Pharmacy services at an under 100-bed acute care community hospital, part of a regional healthcare network, serving patients across emergency, inpatient, and specialty settings. Within this collaborative cancer pharmacy environment, the specialist will help ensure safe preparation, verification, dispensing, and monitoring of antineoplastic and supportive-care medications. The role offers opportunities to contribute to medication-use evaluations, treatment protocol development, formulary management, patient education, regulatory compliance, and evidence-based oncology pharmaceutical care. Reporting to pharmacy leadership, the Licensed Oncology Pharmacy Specialist will receive support from experienced pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, physicians, advanced practice providers, friendly nurses, and a diverse healthcare professional team. Key responsibilities include reviewing oncology medication orders, assessing dosing and interactions, monitoring treatment response and toxicity, supporting sterile compounding standards, educating patients and clinicians, and promoting adherence to safety and quality requirements. The specialist will also collaborate on process improvement, medication safety, antimicrobial stewardship, inventory management, and coordinated transitions of care.
