Responsibilities Dispense prescription medications accurately while verifying dosage, interactions, and patient-specific factors. Provide expert medication counseling to patients, addressing questions about drug usage, side effects, and interactions. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to determine appropriate therapy plans and monitor treatment progress. Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, stock rotation, and ensuring proper storage conditions for medications. Compound medications following aseptic techniques and USP 797 standards for sterile preparations. Collaborate with healthcare providers on medical management plans, including pain management and critical care protocols. Ensure compliance with all pharmacy laws, regulations, and policies such as HIPAA, drug regulation standards, and pharmacy operations guidelines. Requirements Valid pharmacist license in good standing with relevant state and federal pharmacy boards. Extensive pharmacy experience across clinical settings such as hospital, LTC (Long-Term Care), or community pharmacy environments. Critical care experience and familiarity with acute care procedures are highly preferred. Proven ability to practice as a pharmacist with strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and pharmacology. Experience managing pharmacy teams or supervising pharmacy technicians is desirable. Proficiency with Pharmacy Information Systems (PIS), Electronic Health Records (EHR), and other EMR systems. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and immunizations administration is required. Knowledge of sterile compounding techniques including IV infusion and insertion procedures such as IV insertion is advantageous. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations, pharmaceutical regulatory compliance including USP 797 standards, and drug regulation policies. Excellent client communication skills with a focus on customer service and patient care excellence. Ability to handle inventory management efficiently while maintaining accuracy in medication dispensing.
