Job Description

Category Pharmacy-Pharmacist in Charge Job Type Contract Oversee pharmacy operations as Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacist in Charge at a growing healthcare facility in South Bay, FL. This contract role requires experienced leadership within an inpatient acute care setting, emphasizing regulatory compliance and staff coordination to ensure exceptional pharmaceutical services.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide pharmacy leadership and operational oversight, focusing on compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) standards and Florida Board of Pharmacy regulations Prepare and support the site for TJC inspections and annual compliance requirements Manage pharmacy staff including 3 technicians, 1 full-time pharmacist, and 4 PRN pharmacists, ensuring smooth workflow with limited weekday staffing Oversee sterile compounding processes, delegating to technicians while maintaining quality and safety standards Utilize CPSI order entry system and Omnicell automation (both preferred experience or willingness to train) Work collaboratively with medical staff through Collaborative Pharmacy Agreements (CPA) Ensure regulatory and compliance adherence while supporting acute care specialties including ICU, outpatient infusion, surgery, and medical-surgical units
Qualifications and Experience:
Florida Pharmacist and Consultant licensure required Minimum 3 years of management experience in an inpatient hospital pharmacy setting Strong knowledge of IV preparation and TJC regulations Experience with pharmacy automation systems preferred; training available onsite
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30/5:00 PM No weekend coverage required
Location and Logistics:
South Bay, Florida healthcare facility Nearest airports: Fort Myers and Palm Beach Local lodging: Hampton Inn Contract starts August 31st, covering through early September with overlap for transition This position is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned pharmacy leader to guide a facility through a critical transition period while enhancing compliance and operational success.
