Day Shift / Full-Time / Every 4th Weekend / Rotating Holiday Schedule
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
: Graduate of an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree is required. Must currently be licensed with the Indiana Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacist. Basic Life Support (BLS) or obtain prior to providing direct patient care.
PRIMARY DUTIES
Interpret the drug order written by a practitioner and transmitted to the pharmacy or generated via CPOE. Evaluate physician drug orders for appropriateness with regard to patient condition, organ function, disease state, and concomitant therapies to promote optimal patient outcomes. Consult with and provide information and guidance to various Medical, Nursing, and Health Care Professionals concerning drugs and their appropriate use. Follow all state and federal laws, guidelines and regulations governing the practice of pharmacy and the provision of hospital services to the public. Dispense and correctly bill outpatient employee prescriptions. Compound oral and topical products as needed. Compound IV's and chemotherapy IV's, maintaining a sterile work area and using aseptic technique. Enter new drug orders on the computer and verify technician and nursing drug order entry. Provide pharmacokinetic monitoring and dosing for the professional staff. Package or supervise the packaging of all unit dose medication for inpatient and outpatient use.
