Job Summary This role is a licensed professional responsible for the safe and compliant preparation, verification,and dispensing of sterile compounded medications. The pharmacist ensures clinical accuracy, aseptic integrity, and regulatory compliance through oversight of sterile compounding processes, final product verification, and patient counseling. Working in accordance with USP standards, applicable laws, and internal SOPs, this role oversees the full prescription lifecycle and collaborates with prescribers to resolve clinical questions. The pharmacist also supervises technicians and compounding staff, ensuring adherence to workflow standards and maintaining a controlled, compliant cleanroom environment. HAL01 Key Responsibilities Provide direct day-to-day supervision of pharmacy technicians and applicable pharmacy employees. Perform and oversee sterile compounding activities in compliance with USP <797> and <800> standards and internal SOPs. Ensure the quality, sterility, safety, and accuracy of compounded preparations and dispensed medications. Maintain proper cleaning and maintenance of the cleanroom, including daily, weekly, and monthly procedures. Clean and depyrogenate equipment and glassware used in sterile compounding. Monitor and document environmental conditions, including temperature, humidity, and pressure differentials. Verify proper operation of compounding equipment. Monitor media fills and environmental sampling results and take appropriate action when required. Review incoming prescriptions for completeness, accuracy, appropriate drug selection, and dosing. Clarify prescription orders with prescribers when necessary. Receive and document verbal prescription orders in accordance with applicable pharmacy laws. Perform in-process and final verification of sterile compounded preparations before dispensing or shipment. Ensure accurate and complete compounding and prescription documentation, including formulation records, labels, and batch records. Counsel patients and caregivers regarding medications in a timely, clear, and professional manner. Respond to patient inquiries by phone, text, or other communication platforms. Provide information and guidance to prescribers, healthcare professionals, and pharmacy staff as appropriate. Assess daily workload, prescription volume, and inventory to plan compounding batches and optimize workflow. Assign and adjust workflow for pharmacy technicians and support staff based on operational needs. Monitor staff productivity and reallocate tasks as needed to maintain workflow efficiency. Directly supervise staff involved in sterile compounding and pharmacy operations. Perform pharmacist and technician duties as needed to support pharmacy operations. Make workflow decisions in coordination with leadership, with final authority held by the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC). Ensure pharmacy activities comply with USP standards, applicable federal and state pharmacy laws, and internal SOPs. Maintain active pharmacist licensure in good standing in Kansas. Maintain the professional competence required for sterile compounding and clinical responsibilities. Qualifications required Active Pharmacist license in good standing in the State of Kansas. Sterile certification is preferred (for example

PCCCA/ASHP

) 2 years experience in sterile and/or nonsterile compounding is required Experience with sterile compounding. Knowledge of USP <797> and <800> standards. Experience working in or overseeing a controlled cleanroom environment. Knowledge of sterile compounding procedures, documentation, and quality control. Strong prescription verification and clinical review skills. Experience supervising pharmacy technicians and support staff. Strong communication, organization, and workflow management skills.
