Healthcare, Inpatient Hospital Pharmacy Facility Overview This is a 131-bed licensed community hospital in Louisiana with an average daily census of 60 to 70 patients and a goal census of 80. The pharmacy team at full staff consists of 6 pharmacist FTEs and 3 pharmacy technician FTEs. Pharmacists handle all IV preparation and sterile compounding; technicians provide Pyxis and inventory management support, but pharmacists handle IV work. No additional automation is on site.
Schedule Pharmacy hours:
7:00 AM to 9:00 PM, seven days per week Shift 1: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Shift 2: 12:30 PM to 9:00 PM 40 hours per week required; days and shifts will vary Weekend coverage required; same shift hours apply Rotating on-call required, averaging 5 to 7 days per month Responsibilities Verify and process inpatient medication orders accurately and efficiently using EPIC. Prepare and verify IV admixtures and sterile compounds for inpatient patients; the pharmacist team performs all IV work. Manage Pyxis automated dispensing throughout the facility in collaboration with pharmacy technician support. Counsel patients and consult with physicians and nurses on medication therapy and patient care needs Perform pharmacokinetic monitoring and dosing adjustments as needed Ensure safe medication dispensing and full regulatory compliance throughout all operations Participate in rotating on-call coverage averaging 5 to 7 days per month Collaborate with the pharmacy team and interdisciplinary care team to optimize patient outcomes Experience Inpatient hospital pharmacy experience required Sterile compounding experience preferred; pharmacists perform all IV preparation on site. EPIC experience preferred;, willing to train the right candidate Pyxis experience preferred Comfortable with rotating shifts, weekend coverage, and on-call responsibilities Skills Strong clinical judgment in an inpatient community hospital environment Comfortable with sterile compounding and IV preparation as a core daily responsibility Effective communicator with physicians, nurses, and pharmacy team members Flexible and reliable across rotating shifts and weekend coverage Self-sufficient and comfortable in a community hospital pharmacy setting Qualifications Active Louisiana Pharmacist License required; this is a hard requirement Sterile compounding experience strongly preferred EPIC experience preferred Soliant offers Licensing Assistance if you are not yet licensed in
