Category Pharmacy - Staff Pharmacist Job Type Contract A pharmacy professional is needed for an 8-week contract opportunity in Brockton, MA, with an immediate start date. The role requires flexibility in working primarily from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with occasional shifts from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. There is potential for conversion to a permanent position if the candidate is a strong match. Key responsibilities include accepting and dispensing prescription medications, monitoring patient medication compliance, and ensuring all medicines are managed in accordance with legal standards. The pharmacist will maintain confidential patient records, provide medication consultations explaining dosages, side effects, and interactions, and offer additional patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure measurement, and cholesterol management. Educating patients on the proper use of medical devices, compounding medications, preparing sterile solutions, and supervising pharmacy staff are also essential duties. Collaboration with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, and pharmacy interns is required to identify and resolve drug-related problems effectively. This opportunity is open to licensed pharmacists in Massachusetts, including those transitioning from retail pharmacy roles, as training will be provided. MA pharmacy license must be current and in-hand.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Valid Massachusetts pharmacy license Experience or willingness to train retail pharmacists in long-term care pharmacy practice Ability to supervise pharmacy staff and manage inventory Strong communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration Knowledge of compounding sterile and non-sterile medications preferred
