Job Description

Category Pharmacy - Clinical Pharmacist Job Type Contract A clinical pharmacist position is available for a 6-8 week contract in the Fall River, MA area, with a possibility of conversion for the right candidate. This role requires a flexible schedule, focusing primarily on shifts from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with occasional coverage from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The ideal candidate will have a Massachusetts pharmacist license in-hand and be prepared to start as soon as possible.
Key Responsibilities:
Accept and dispense prescription medications while ensuring compliance with legal standards. Monitor patient medication adherence and usage patterns to identify overuse. Verify the suitability of prescribed medicines for each patient. Maintain accurate, confidential patient records and pharmacy documentation. Advise patients on medication use, possible side effects, and respond to inquiries. Provide patient consultations on both prescription and OTC medications, including dosages and drug interactions. Deliver patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management. Educate patients on the correct use of medical devices like glucose meters and blood pressure monitors. Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions according to protocol. Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks. Manage inventory levels of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies. Identify drug-related patient issues and communicate effectively with physicians and other healthcare providers. Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals including nurses, pharmacists, and pharmacy interns.
Qualifications:
Current MA pharmacist license. Open to training retail pharmacists with less clinical experience. Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and maintain patient safety.
