$115,000-$140,000 Position Overview A healthcare organization in Pittsfield, MA, is seeking an experienced Retail Staff Pharmacist to support its outpatient pharmacy operations. The Pharmacist will be responsible for the safe and accurate dispensing of medications, prescription verification, patient counseling, medication management, and providing drug information to patients and healthcare professionals. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced pharmacy environment. This role works closely with pharmacy technicians, physicians, nurses, clinicians, and pharmacy leadership while ensuring compliance with Massachusetts and federal pharmacy regulations. Key Responsibilities Review, verify, prepare, and accurately dispense prescription medications. Ensure medication orders are appropriate, safe, and compliant with applicable regulations. Counsel patients on prescription and over-the-counter medications, including proper use, dosing, precautions, side effects, and potential drug interactions. Provide medication and drug-information support to physicians, nurses, healthcare professionals, patients, and families. Monitor medication therapy and identify potential contraindications, interactions, and safety concerns. Maintain an efficient pharmacy workflow while prioritizing patient safety and quality service. Collaborate with pharmacy technicians, clinicians, and pharmacy leadership to support daily operations. Utilize pharmacy management systems, electronic prescribing platforms, automation, and other clinical technology. Assist with insurance claim processing, prior authorizations, and other outpatient pharmacy functions. Maintain accurate pharmacy records and documentation. Ensure pharmacy operations comply with Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy requirements and applicable federal regulations. Participate in quality improvement and medication safety initiatives as needed. Required Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy. Active Massachusetts Pharmacist License. Current Immunization Certification. Current CPR/BLS Certification. Minimum 3 years of experience as a licensed pharmacist. Experience with pharmacy workflow and prescription processing. Strong experience with medication counseling and patient education. Strong knowledge of pharmacotherapy, medication dosing, drug interactions, and contraindications. Ability to accurately verify prescriptions and maintain medication safety. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent attention to detail and clinical judgment. Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced pharmacy environment. Proficiency with pharmacy management systems, electronic prescribing, automation, and clinical technology. Preferred Qualifications Community, retail, outpatient, or specialty pharmacy experience. Experience with pharmacy automation systems. Experience with insurance claim adjudication and prior authorizations. Familiarity with patient assistance programs. Experience working in a 340B pharmacy environment . Experience collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
