Job Description

Position Summary A healthcare organization in Pittsfield, Massachusetts is looking for a qualified Retail Staff Pharmacist to join its outpatient pharmacy team. The pharmacist will be responsible for accurately processing and dispensing medications, reviewing prescriptions, counseling patients, and providing medication-related information to patients and healthcare providers. This role involves working collaboratively with pharmacy technicians, clinical staff, and leadership while ensuring all pharmacy operations are conducted in accordance with Massachusetts and federal laws and regulations. Schedule 32 hours per week Monday-Thursday 1:30 PM-10:00 PM On-site position Primary Responsibilities Evaluate, process, prepare, and dispense prescription medications with a strong focus on accuracy and patient safety. Educate patients on prescription and non-prescription medications, including appropriate use, dosage, possible interactions, precautions, and potential side effects. Respond to medication-related questions and provide drug information to patients, families, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Maintain an organized and efficient pharmacy workflow while ensuring quality patient care. Follow all applicable Massachusetts pharmacy laws, federal regulations, and established pharmacy policies and procedures. Coordinate effectively with pharmacy technicians, clinicians, and pharmacy management to support daily operations. Operate pharmacy information systems, electronic prescribing tools, clinical applications, and other pharmacy-related technologies. Assist with insurance-related processes and other outpatient pharmacy duties as required. Required Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD from an ACPE-accredited pharmacy school. Current and active Massachusetts Pharmacist license . Valid immunization certification . Current CPR/BLS certification . Minimum of 3 years of experience as a licensed pharmacist . Demonstrated knowledge of pharmacy workflow and daily dispensing operations. Experience counseling patients on prescription and over-the-counter medications. Strong understanding of pharmacotherapy, medication dosing, drug interactions, contraindications, and medication safety. Ability to accurately assess and verify prescriptions while maintaining compliance with applicable regulations. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient counseling skills. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, prioritize tasks, and work effectively in a fast-paced pharmacy setting. Proficiency with pharmacy information systems, electronic prescribing platforms, automation, and other clinical technologies. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in a community, outpatient, or specialty pharmacy setting. Experience working with pharmacy automation systems. Familiarity with insurance claim processing, adjudication, and prior authorization procedures. Knowledge of patient assistance programs. Previous experience in a 340B pharmacy environment. Pay:
$70.92 - $85.09 per hour Expected hours: 32.0 per week
