Responsibilities Review and verify medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and safety Dispense medications and oversee pharmacy technicians to ensure compliance and quality Provide patient counseling on prescriptions, side effects, and proper medication use Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and care teams on medication therapy management Monitor for drug interactions, allergies, and contraindications and recommend alternatives Maintain accurate pharmacy records and comply with regulatory and accreditation standards Participate in medication reconciliation and transitions-of-care activities Support clinical initiatives, quality improvement, and formulary management Educate patients and staff on medication safety and best practices Use pharmacy information systems and technology to optimize workflow and accuracy Required Skills Medication dispensing Clinical pharmacotherapy Medication therapy management (MTM) Prescription verification Drug interaction and allergy screening Patient counseling and education Pharmacy information systems (e.g., Epic, Pyxis, Cerner) Regulatory compliance (Board of Pharmacy, USP, Joint Commission) Sterile and non-sterile compounding Medication reconciliation
