Overview Provides pharmaceutical care to all patients consistent with the goals and objectives of the hospital and the pharmacy department. In providing this care, the pharmacist must review all drug orders and judge the appropriateness of those orders, i.e. appropriate drug, dose, frequency, etc. Drug related problems, such as potential allergic reactions, drug interactions and other problems, must be identified and resolved. The pharmacist must also oversee the activities of supportive personnel working in the area. Pharmacists are expected to focus the full potential of their knowledge and experience on the assessment and improvement of patient care. Responsibilities Prepares and dispenses medication orders per physician request according to established policies, procedures, and protocols. Contributes to the quality and effective operation of the department. Ensures safe, appropriate, cost-effective medication therapies for patients according to established policies, procedures, and protocols. Ensures patient medication will arrive to the confirmed delivery address in a timely manner and without any delay in patient care. Maintains competence required for current job title/position.
