As a specialized physical rehabilitation hospital, we are dedicated to helping patients restore independence and achieve their highest level of recovery. The Staff Pharmacist will play an important role in providing safe, effective, and patient-centered medication therapy for adolescent, adult, and geriatric rehabilitation patients. Responsibilities include preparing and dispensing medications, monitoring medication therapies, providing clinical drug information, and supervising pharmacy support personnel. In the absence of the Pharmacy Director, the Staff Pharmacist may also assume essential pharmacy leadership responsibilities. What You'll Do Prepare and dispense oral, intravenous, sterile, and other medications according to physician orders, pharmacy protocols, and established policies Review and interpret medication orders and maintain accurate computerized patient medication profiles Monitor medication therapies for allergies, contraindications, drug interactions, therapeutic duplications, and appropriate dosing Provide clinical consultations, medication therapy recommendations, and drug information to physicians, nurses, patients, and families Assist with pharmacokinetic consultations and medication dosing according to organizational protocols Review culture and susceptibility data and recommend appropriate antibiotic therapy changes Detect and report suspected adverse drug reactions and medication errors Promote safe, appropriate, and cost-effective medication therapy Supervise and direct pharmacy technicians and other pharmacy support personnel Help maintain automated dispensing cabinets and medication inventory Participate in medication-use evaluations, quality improvement activities, staff education, and departmental operations Assist with pharmacy operations after hours, on weekends, or in the absence of the Pharmacy Director Qualifications Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS in Pharmacy or PharmD Current licensure with the Mississippi State Board of Pharmacy Health-system experience preferred, but not required Strong clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skills Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with physicians, nurses, pharmacy staff, and other healthcare professionals Ability to adapt to changing workloads and priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment Schedule PRN
- 8 to 16 hours per pay period 8:00 am
- 5:00 pm weekdays May include ON CALL rotating every third weekend 10:00 am
