Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and responsible Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) to oversee daily pharmacy operations, ensure full compliance with federal and state regulations, and maintain high standards of patient care. The PIC will be responsible for supervising pharmacy staff, managing workflow, ensuring accurate dispensing, and maintaining required records and inventory controls. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily pharmacy operations and ensure efficient workflow and patient service. Ensure compliance with all State Board of Pharmacy , DEA, HIPAA, and federal/state pharmacy laws and regulations. Verify prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, drug interactions, allergies, and contraindications. Provide professional counseling to patients regarding medication use, side effects, dosage, and storage. Supervise and train pharmacy staff, including pharmacists, technicians, interns, and clerks. Maintain and enforce pharmacy policies, procedures, and quality assurance programs. Monitor controlled substance ordering, storage, dispensing, and documentation per DEA regulations. Maintain proper inventory levels, manage medication ordering, and ensure accurate stock rotation. Ensure proper handling of returns, expired medications, recalls, and hazardous drug protocols. Resolve prescription-related issues with prescribers, insurance companies, and patients. Conduct routine audits and ensure accurate documentation for compliance and billing. Oversee immunization services (if applicable) and ensure required certifications and documentation. Maintain pharmacy cleanliness, safety, and security standards. Handle customer escalations professionally and ensure high satisfaction. Qualifications Active Pharmacist License in the State of New Jersey. Must meet all requirements to serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge under state regulations. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Ability to manage workflow in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Experience 1-3+ years of retail or independent pharmacy experience preferred. Prior PIC experience is a plus. Immunization certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
