The ideal candidate will be a compassionate, detail-oriented pharmacist with a strong commitment to medication safety, a sharp attention to detail, and compliance with all applicable federal and New York State laws and regulations, third-party payer and insurance requirements, and pharmacy policies and procedures . Responsibilities Accurately review, verify, and dispense prescription medications in accordance with all applicable federal and New York State laws, rules, and regulations. Ensure compliance with applicable requirements governing controlled substances, prescription processing, recordkeeping, storage, security, inventory, and dispensing. Maintain accurate and complete pharmacy records and documentation as required by applicable law, regulation, payer requirements, and pharmacy policy. Conduct prospective drug utilization reviews and identify potential medication-related problems. Provide appropriate patient counseling regarding prescription medications, over-the-counter products, side effects, drug interactions, and proper medication use. Maintain and protect patient information in accordance with applicable privacy and confidentiality requirements. Communicate professionally with patients, healthcare providers, insurance companies, pharmacy benefit managers, and other third parties to resolve prescription, coverage, prior authorization, reimbursement, and medication-related issues. Review and process prescriptions and claims in accordance with applicable third-party payer, Medicare, Medicaid, PBM, and other insurance program requirements, as applicable to the pharmacy's participation and contracts. Support accurate billing practices and assist in identifying, preventing, and reporting potential billing errors, fraud, waste, abuse, diversion, or other compliance concerns in accordance with applicable requirements and pharmacy policies. Supervise and support pharmacy technicians and other pharmacy personnel within the scope of their respective roles and applicable New York State requirements. Assist with inventory management, medication ordering, recalls, returns, expiration-date monitoring, and the removal of expired, adulterated, misbranded, or otherwise unsuitable medications from dispensing stock, as applicable. Participate in immunization, clinical, and other patient-care services within the pharmacist's legal scope of practice and in accordance with applicable requirements. Maintain awareness of changes in pharmacy laws, regulations, payer requirements, and professional standards relevant to the position. Help maintain a safe, ethical, professional, and patient-centered pharmacy environment. Qualifications Current and unrestricted New York State Pharmacist License . PharmD or Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited school of pharmacy. Knowledge of applicable federal and New York State pharmacy laws and regulations. Knowledge of controlled substance requirements and appropriate pharmacy recordkeeping practices. Familiarity with third-party billing, insurance claims processing, PBM requirements, Medicare, Medicaid, and other payer requirements, as applicable. Strong commitment to patient safety, regulatory compliance, professional ethics, and confidentiality. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and patient counseling skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with pharmacy staff, prescribers, healthcare providers, patients, and third-party payers. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation. Immunization certification preferred. Experience in community or independent pharmacy is preferred; qualified new graduates are encouraged to apply. Experience with PrimeRX software a plus.
