Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Pharmacist PRN (Pro Re Nata, or as needed) to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this role, you will provide expert pharmaceutical care across various hospital departments, ensuring safe and effective medication management tailored to patient needs. This position offers flexibility to support our clinical teams during peak times or staff shortages, contributing to optimal patient outcomes through your extensive pharmacy knowledge and clinical expertise. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hospital pharmacy practice, critical care, and medication safety protocols, with the ability to adapt quickly to diverse clinical environments. Duties Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop and implement individualized medication therapy plans for patients in diverse settings such as ICU, emergency room, and specialty units. Review and verify medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and compliance with pharmaceutical regulations and hospital policies. Prepare and dispense medications accurately, including IV infusions and aseptic compounding, ensuring adherence to sterile technique standards. Monitor patient responses to medications, assess potential drug interactions, and adjust therapy as needed based on pharmacotherapeutic principles. Provide clinical consultation on complex cases involving oncology, pediatrics, trauma, or critical care patients. Educate healthcare staff on medication protocols, drug regulation updates, and new pharmaceutical practices. Maintain detailed documentation within Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) systems and ensure compliance with pharmaceutical regulatory standards. Support precepting pharmacy residents or students when applicable, sharing expertise in acute care and hospital pharmacy practices. Qualifications Current licensure as a registered pharmacist with practicing authority in the relevant jurisdiction. Extensive hospital pharmacy experience, including Level I Trauma Center or Level II Trauma Center exposure preferred. Proven expertise in critical care environments such as
ICU, PICU
(Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), or emergency room settings. Strong knowledge of pharmacology, physiology, anatomy, drug regulation, and medical terminology. Hands-on experience with pharmacy information systems (PIS), EMR/EHR platforms, and IV infusion technology. Demonstrated competency in aseptic technique, IV compounding, acute pain management, and medication administration protocols. Background in managed care principles and pharmaceutical regulatory compliance standards. Excellent patient assessment skills with a focus on patient service and safety across diverse populations including pediatrics and oncology patients. Post-residency or post-licensure experience emphasizing clinical pharmacy practice in acute care settings is highly desirable.
