Overview The Hematology/Oncology Clinical Pharmacist provides pharmaceutical care to patients with applicable disease states consistent with the goals and objectives of the hospital and the pharmacy department. In providing this care, the pharmacist must review all drug orders and judge the appropriateness of those orders, i.e. appropriate drug, dose, frequency, etc. This pharmacist will work closely with other pharmacists as well as hematology and oncology care teams to provide sound clinical recommendations to optimize patient therapies. In general, pharmacists are expected to focus the full potential of their knowledge and experience on the assessment and improvement of patient care. They must be cognizant of medication-related, patient safety risks, and resolve or escalate identified problems in a timely manner. Role may allow for remote work based on the needs of the department at the discretion of the manager/supervisor. Responsibilities Works collaboratively with hematology and oncology providers, nurses, and other care providers in both inpatient and outpatient areas. Prepares and dispenses medication orders per physician request according to established policies, procedures, and protocols. Ensures safe, appropriate, cost effective medication therapies for patients according to established policies, procedures, and protocols. Contributes to the quality and effective operation of the department. Maintains competence required for current job title/position. The pay range for this job begins at $57.81/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience. Remote Work/Work from Home This is an intermittent remote position, which means that the person hired will work with his or her manager to determine a schedule that includes both at home and on-site hours at a Children's Mercy location. The incumbent must live in the Kansas City metro area.
