Houston Methodist seeks an Oncology Clinical Specialist Pharmacist to provide advanced oncology pharmacotherapy for complex cancer patients. In this on-site role, you will optimize chemotherapy and supportive care regimens, perform therapeutic drug monitoring, and ensure safe, compliant sterile compounding. The specialist will round with interdisciplinary teams, educate patients and staff, develop and review oncology protocols, and support research and quality initiatives. Responsibilities Provide advanced oncology pharmacotherapy management for inpatient and outpatient cancer populations. Design, verify, and monitor chemotherapy and supportive care regimens for safety and efficacy. Perform therapeutic drug monitoring and adjust therapy based on clinical status and lab results. Ensure safe, compliant sterile compounding in alignment with USP 797/800 and hospital policies. Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and collaborate with oncologists, nurses, and other clinicians. Educate patients, caregivers, and staff on oncology medications, side effects, and administration. Develop, review, and optimize oncology treatment protocols, order sets, and clinical pathways. Support and participate in oncology research, clinical trials, and quality improvement initiatives. Identify and prevent medication errors, adverse drug events, and drug interactions in oncology care. Precept pharmacy residents/students and contribute to ongoing professional education and development.
