Job Description

Category Pharmacy - Staff Pharmacist Job Type Contract A specialized opportunity is available for a Staff Pharmacist to provide expert pharmacy care in a children's hospital setting. This contract role requires working the night shift from 8:00 PM to 6:30 AM, with a schedule of 7 days on followed by 7 days off. The assignment is set for six months, starting as soon as possible. There is potential to transition to a day shift later in the contract to cover an FMLA leave through mid-January 2027. The ideal candidate will hold an active Texas pharmacist license and possess strong experience in inpatient pharmacy practices. Pediatric pharmacy experience is highly preferred due to the nature of the patient population. Familiarity with EPIC electronic health records and Pyxis automated dispensing systems is essential to support efficient and accurate medication management.
Key Responsibilities:
Dispense medications accurately for inpatient pediatric patients, ensuring adherence to protocols and safety standards. Utilize EPIC for electronic documentation and medication order processing. Operate Pyxis systems for medication distribution and inventory management. Collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize pharmaceutical care plans. Monitor medication therapies, managing dosing and potential interactions. Support transition in shift coverage as needed during the assignment.
Qualifications:
Licensed Pharmacist in the state of Texas. Experience with inpatient pharmacy services. Proficient in EPIC and Pyxis systems. Pediatric pharmacy experience is a strong plus. Ability to work night shift hours effectively.
