Job Description

Ensures the safe and effective use of medications by providing medication order verification while assessing for optimal drug product selection dosage regimen design effective administration and drug therapy monitoring services in the UVA Medical Center. Monitors inpatient and outpatient drug therapies when appropriate and works with relating medical staff to find alternatives when needed to ensure the best care possible is being given. We are seeking a Float Clinical Pharmacist to provide clinical and operational support in multiple inpatient practice areas — helping ensure safe, effective, and high-quality medication use for our patients.
Position Highlights Diverse Practice Experience:
Serve as a key member of the pharmacy team supporting a range of inpatient units and specialty areas. Float pharmacists gain broad exposure to a variety of patient populations, including general medicine, surgery, neurology, and perioperative care.
Direct Patient Impact:
Engage in direct patient care, medication management, and care transitions to optimize outcomes and ensure continuity of therapy.

Education:
Bachelor's in Pharmacy or Pharm. D Degree required.
Experience:
PGY-1 residency required or equivalent hospital experience. (3.years). PGY-2 residency is preferred for specialty areas.
Licensure/Certifications:
Commonwealth of Virginia State Board of Pharmacy. License required. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider. BLS certification required Physical Demands - Job requires sitting for prolonged periods; Repetitive motion: typing. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull < 20lbs. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease. Compensation The pay rate for this role starts at $64.37 per hour. New hire compensation will be determined by education and experience. Onboarding Requirements Background checks and pre-employment health screenings will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment. All safety-sensitive positions with direct patient interaction also require a drug screen. The starting base rate for this role is $64.37 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
