  • Must communicate effectively and show eagerness to learn
  • Assists the pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing and/or distribution of medications.
  • Obtains and maintains appropriate knowledge and understanding of the department Policies and Procedures as well as Joint Commission medication management standards.
  • Performs essential functions related to inventory control such as rotating stock, replenishing stock, performing medication audits and monitoring for outdates.
  • Performs activities as directed in accordance with federal, state and local laws/regulations and hospital policies.
  • Delivers outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Operates computer systems and utilizes technology such as Meditech and Omnicell. May need to troubleshoot issues with equipment and discrepancies.
  • Responsible for entering medication charges in system accurately.
  • Performs essential functions related to maintaining IV room certification such as cleaning of IV room and surrounding areas.
  • The responsibilities listed are a general overview of the position and additional duties may be assigned in alignment with experience and education.
(For example, medication historian duties, or IV room duties.) At least one year of previous pharmacy work experience is desired. The goal is to achieve Pharmacy Technician Certification within 1 year of date of hire. Retail experience preferred for medication historian role. NYS registration and sterile compounding certificate required for IV room compounding. Additional certifications might be required specific to job duties assigned.
