Category Pharmacy - Pharmacist Job Type Per Diem Pharmacy professionals with retail experience are invited to consider a per diem opportunity supporting a growing pharmacy team in the greater Phoenix, AZ area. This role focuses on providing essential pharmacist coverage to a local network of 38 pharmacy locations embedded within food store settings, with an emphasis on maintaining strong pharmacy operations through team collaboration and readiness.
Location:
Tempe, AZ — most pharmacies are within a reasonable commuting distance from central Phoenix.Schedule/Hours:
Primarily Monday through Saturday shifts Typical hours run 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with some locations closing at 8:00 p.m. Per diem shifts with flexible scheduling, ideal for pharmacists wanting to work 2-4 days per week Coverage includes call-outs, vacation fill-ins, and volume spikesResponsibilities:
Provide professional pharmacist services to dispense and counsel on prescriptions Support pharmacy operations and collaborate closely with pharmacy technician staff; some pharmacies operate pharmacist-only Participate in an 8-hour initial training session, with additional training offered as needed Utilize QS1 pharmacy system for workflow and documentation Maintain immunization privileges and current BLS certification Adapt to varying pharmacy needs and volumes, averaging 100-125 prescriptions per dayQualifications & Desired Experience:
AZ pharmacist license with no restrictions Minimum 1-2 years of recent retail pharmacy experience preferred, ideally 2 years or more Immunization certification and BLS card required Familiarity with QS1 pharmacy software is a plusAdditional Information:
Training is paid but the initial session includes some non-billable hours (depending on QS1 experience) Travel reimbursement available for distances over 30 miles; meals and lodging covered for greater distances Opportunity to join a supportive, locally based pharmacist per diem team This per diem position offers a balanced approach for pharmacists seeking flexibility while contributing to a high-volume, retail pharmacy environment.
