Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Head of Pharmacy Operations to lead our pharmacy services and ensure the delivery of high-quality healthcare. This pivotal role involves overseeing all aspects of pharmacy management, including clinical operations, regulatory compliance, financial stewardship, and team leadership. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in healthcare management, medical leadership, and operational excellence, driving continuous improvement and fostering cross-functional collaboration. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the Head of Pharmacy Operations will shape strategic initiatives aligned with healthcare policies and standards such as JCAHO accreditation requirements. Duties Lead the development and implementation of pharmacy operational strategies that align with organizational goals and healthcare regulations. Oversee daily pharmacy functions, including medication management, inventory control, and patient safety protocols. Ensure compliance with health regulation policies, JCAHO standards, and other relevant accreditation requirements. Manage multidisciplinary teams comprising pharmacists, nurses, and administrative staff to promote a cohesive and high-performing work environment. Drive performance improvement initiatives (PI) to optimize operational efficiency, patient outcomes, and service quality. Collaborate with medical leadership to integrate pharmacy services seamlessly into overall patient care pathways. Oversee healthcare financial management by monitoring budgets, controlling costs, and ensuring resource allocation aligns with organizational priorities. Foster cross-functional collaboration across departments such as nursing, medical staff, and administration to enhance service delivery. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of healthcare management trends, medication safety standards, and health regulation policies. Lead strategic planning efforts to expand pharmacy services while ensuring compliance with operational standards. Experience 8+ years of pharmacy operations leadership experience. Demonstrated success leading operations within a pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, mail-order pharmacy, or other high-volume healthcare fulfillment environment. Experience managing operational KPIs, productivity metrics, staffing models, and process improvement initiatives. Strong understanding of pharmacy workflows, inventory management, fulfillment operations, and business performance drivers. Experience leading cross-functional teams and operational projects. Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Ability to work onsite in the North Tampa/Brooksville area. Proven experience in healthcare management with a focus on pharmacy operations or medical leadership roles. Demonstrated expertise in operational management within a healthcare setting, including managing large teams and complex workflows. Strong knowledge of health regulation policies and accreditation standards such as JCAHO. Experience in healthcare financial management including budgeting, cost control, and resource planning. Background in nursing leadership or medical management is highly desirable. Skilled in managerial communication with the ability to lead diverse teams effectively. Prior involvement in performance improvement (PI) projects aimed at enhancing clinical outcomes and operational efficiency. Familiarity with strategic management principles within healthcare organizations. Extensive knowledge of medication safety protocols, medical management practices, and healthcare regulations.
