Category Pharmacy-Director of Pharmacy Job Type Direct Hire This leadership role oversees the clinical, operational, administrative, staffing, and financial management of the pharmacy department within an acute care inpatient hospital. Reporting directly to hospital administration, the Director will work collaboratively with clinical leadership teams to ensure high-quality pharmaceutical services are delivered, supporting the hospital's mission and patient care objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage all aspects of the pharmacy department, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Develop and implement clinical and operational strategies to improve pharmacy services. Oversee staffing, including full-time, part-time, and PRN pharmacy personnel. Manage budgets and financial performance of the pharmacy department. Collaborate with hospital administration and clinical teams to enhance patient outcomes. Maintain compliance with Joint Commission and CMS standards.
Required Qualifications:
Active Illinois Pharmacist License in good standing (mandatory). Minimum three years of Director of Pharmacy experience in an acute care inpatient hospital setting. Minimum three years of acute care inpatient hospital pharmacy experience. Disclosure and verification of all active and inactive pharmacist licenses.
Preferred Qualifications:
PharmD degree strongly preferred. Board Certification is a strong plus. Completion of hospital pharmacy residency desirable. Experience managing a multi-level pharmacy team including full-time, part-time, and PRN staff. Strong background in Joint Commission and CMS compliance. Experience in community or safety net hospital settings is advantageous.
Ideal Candidate:
Holds an active Illinois Pharmacist License confirmed in good standing. Demonstrated leadership managing a 20-person pharmacy team. Excellent clinical and operational skills. Committed to serving an underserved patient population. Willingness to relocate to Chicago's South Side if not local. This is a direct hire opportunity.
