- Position Purpose
- Under the general direction of Pharmacy management, a pharmacy coordinator develops and continuously improves workflow systems which effectively utilize resources to deliver quality service in a cost-effective manner.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
Education:
- Requires a bachelor's degree in pharmacy. A PharmD or other related advanced degree is preferred. Board Certification in Oncology Pharmacy is preferred.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of clinical practice in an oncology specific setting OR an oncology specialty residency with at least 1 year of additional oncology clinical practice experience. Previous experience with implementation and/or maintenance and support of an electronic medical record is preferred.
Licensure:
- A current State of Michigan Pharmacist license, or eligibility for licensure.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- + Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate drug therapy information to all health team members, patients, and administrators / managers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- 1.
Clinical Practice:
+ Participates as part of the multi-disciplinary team to actively address patient care needs related to inpatient antineoplastic medications. + Creates and develops antineoplastic patient education ("chemo teach sheets") and nursing references ("chemotherapy summary sheets") for use across allSJMHS SEMI
Hospitals. + Serves as preceptor for pharmacy students and residents. + Coordinates and reviews computerized order entry audits and reports. + Meets on a regular basis with customers to engage in cost reduction, problem solving, and continuous improvement activities 2.Regional Clinical Support and Informatics Practice:
+ Works collaboratively with physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and informatics specialists in the implementation and integration of Oncology EMR to assure safe and appropriate use of oncology related medications. + Participates in development, monitoring, and evaluation of decision support for continuous improvement, particularly of oncology related medications. + Plans, develops, implements and monitors compliance with health system and department policies and procedures. + Assumes responsibility for the timely dissemination of information as related Oncology EMR, particularly of medications. + Identifies and develops new opportunities with EMR to improve the safety related to oncology medications. + Maintains external provider order sets. + Travels to all SEMI oncology clinics for physician, pharmacist, and nursing support. 3.Leadership/Professional Practice:
+ Co-chairs of the interdepartmental oncology committee: SJMHS Regional Oncology & Infusion Services Collaborative Practice Team (OISCPT). + Leads OISCPT meeting development and agenda/minutes. + Evaluates, reviews, and presents new drugs, protocols, guidelines, and policies for approval to the oncology formulary at OISCPT. + Imparts knowledge related to antineoplastics and new treatments to committee members. + Participates in the orientation, education and mentoring of new physicians, pharmacy and nursing staff, as needed.Total Rewards and Benefits:
